Dhela Forest Zone

The Jim Corbett national park is divided into 6 zones, out of which the sixth and the latest addition was the Dhela forest zone, opened in 1991. This zone is accessible to the public throughout the year. The zone is situated close to Dhela Forest rest house. The zone is a treat for every bird lover as it is an ideal zone for bird watching.


The best time to visit here is from November to June, although the park remains open all throughout the year. To enter the Dhela eco-tourism zone, you need to take the Dhela gate which is located around 15 km away from Ramnagar. The Dhela Forest rest house is one of the most beautiful places to stay within the park and it is situated close to the Dhela village.


Dhela Forest Zone Attractions

There are plenty of attractions in the newest zone of Jim Corbett national park. Visitors can enjoy the famous jungle safari, explore the 'Chaurs' or grasslands and spot exotic flora and fauna. For more details, see below:


Jungle Safari

With Corbett Safari booking, visitors can opt for a jeep safari or elephant safari. For jeep safari, prior booking is necessary. People who love adventure can also go for a walking forest trail with armed guards. The Dhela forest zone is located close to the Corbett national park due to which visitors can spot a wide range of birds and animals like Royal Bengal Tigers, Asiatic Elephants, Barking Deer, Chital, Black Faced Monkey, Jackal, Peacock, Jungle Foul, White Bush Chat, Emerald Dove, Rested Kingfisher, Vulture, Parakeet, Common Grey Hornbill, Duck, Parrot, Seagull, etc.


Chaurs (Grasslands)

The widespread Laldhang chaur is the main attraction of this zone. The grassland is dominated by Elephants and Deer, Wild Pigs, Neelgai and many grassland birds. You can witness all these amazing animals after your Corbett Safari booking. Lush Greenery.


Corbett national park has Sheesam, Dhak, Sisoo, and Khair in abundance. Chir Pine is the only conifer found in the park, situated on ridge tops like Chir Choti and ends in Gajar Sot. Kanju (Holoptelia Integrifolia), Jamun (Syzygium Cumini) and Aamla (Emblica Officinalis) are also seen growing in major areas of the park. Other types of trees in Corbett Park are Bel, Kusum, Mahua and Bakli.
